The Americana
Not to be confused with the breeds Araucana or Ameraucana.
This breed is better referred to as an Easter Egger breed because they can lay an assortment of colored eggs from turquoise to olive, to light brown.
A myth is that Easter Eggers will lay different colored eggs during their lifetime. However, that is not the case.
The egg color a hen produces will always be the colo you will receive from her. The hen could produce different shades of color as with all other breeds, but you will always receive the same egg color from one hen.
The Americana breed comes from the Araucana and Ameraucana mix and has different color plumage variations.
Please be aware that because of this genetic combination, this breed is not meant for exhibition.
About the Breed:
Purpose: egg layer production: ~240 medium colored eggs/year
