Creating a DIY healthy peppermint mocha with raw milk is a great idea! Find out why it is healthy at the end of this recipe.

Here's a simple recipe you can follow:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw milk
  • 1 shot of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened real cocoa (cacao) powder - you can find it on Amazon here (affiliate link)
  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener of your choice (like honey, maple syrup, or stevia)
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Optional: whipped cream and crushed peppermints for topping

Instructions:

  1. Brew Coffee or Espresso:
    • Make a shot of espresso or brew a strong cup of coffee. Set aside.
  2. Heat Raw Milk:
    • Gently heat the raw milk in a small saucepan over low to medium heat. Be careful not to boil it; you just want to warm it.
    • You can also use a frother if you have one available.
  3. Mix Cocoa or (Cacao) Powder:
    • In a mug, mix the cocoa powder with a small amount of hot water to create a smooth paste.
  4. Combine Ingredients:
    • Pour the warm raw milk into the mug with the cocoa paste, stirring continuously to combine.
  5. Add Sweetener:
    • Add your preferred sweetener to the mixture. Adjust the amount based on your taste preferences.
  6. Add Coffee or Espresso:
    • Pour in the shot of espresso or strong coffee into the mug, stirring well.
  7. Add Peppermint Extract:
    • Add the peppermint extract to the mixture and stir again. Adjust the amount based on how strong you want the peppermint flavor.
  8. Optional: Top with Whipped Cream and/or Crushed Peppermints:
    • If you'd like, top your peppermint mocha with a dollop of whipped cream and crushed peppermints or a candy cane!
  9. Enjoy!

There are two main ingredients that make this peppermint mocha healthy.

1) Raw milk

2) Cacao powder

This recipe calls for REAL cacao powder - not to be confused with cocoa powder.

Raw cacao powder is essentially chocolate at its purest form. It’s straight out of the cacao pod, right from the bean, unroasted and – relatively – unprocessed. It is made by cold-pressing unroasted cacao beans, which is said to keep most of the nutritional value intact.
