Prairie Bluebell Egger (R)

Developed by Hoover's Hatchery, this breed lays a novel blue egg.

The PBE was created by crossing Araucanas and White Leghorns making it an active bird that is very good at foraging.

They are lightweight and Hoover's claims this bird produces higher quality eggs than a pure Araucana.

This breed has a wide variety of stunning plumage colors so you can count on having the most beautiful flock in town!

About the Breed:

Purpose: egg layer production: ~240 medium blue eggs/year

Temperament: active, athletic and alert

Mature weight: 4-5 pounds

Hardiness: cold and heat hardy

Broodiness: rarely

Comb type: pea comb

The PBE does not eat as much as larger breeds so if you want your own eggs, but are on a tight budget, this bird is the one for you!
